Clay Carson
OwnerAct One is owned and operated by Clay Carson, a 20 year veteran of the stone and tile care business. He grew up in Boston and has lived all his 63 years in the Boston area. Clay’s a pretty mellow, low key guy in general, but he does get enthusiastic about all aspects of marble and tile – if you let him, he’ll talk your ear off about it! He lives with a wonderful wife and a dazzling daughter, and an orange cat named Pumpkin who’s really in charge of the house! We’re based in the Watertown area but we don’t mind driving about an hour to your home or business. That takes our service area to about Route 495 in general but we go a bit further at times. Based on the size of the job, Clay works either by himself or with a small, dedicated crew of stone craftsmen who care about the old-fashioned way of doing the job right, and making sure the customer is so thrilled with their results that they want to show them off to friends and neighbors. Having worked for years as a tile and stone installer, Clay understands not only your stone, but what’s behind it and how to fix problems that go deep down below the surface. Most of Act One’s clients are homeowners who want to restore marble or granite surfaces like floors or countertops, but they also service commercial property owners such as hotels, restaurants, universities and hospitals. They’ve worked for Shriner’s Hospital, Giorgio Armani, Legal Sea Foods, Stop and Shop, Fitchburg State College, Hampton Inn, Hyatt Regency, Olive’s Restaurant, Holiday Inn, Hertz and MIT. Clay has received marble polishing training from the late Maurizio Bertoli of mbstone.com, stone, masonry and tile cleaning classes from the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification, marble restoration training from the Cleaning Management Expo and tile and stone installation from the Ceramic Tile Education Foundation. He enjoys solving complicated problems like problem stone countertops that have lost their shine, leaks in tile or marble showers, cracked or broken marble tiles or grout appearance problems. If you have a stone problem, he’s willing to talk you through it on the phone as far as possible, so don’t be uncomfortable calling even if the job is small or you’re not certain what the problem is.
